How the date of Easter is calculated
Easter is the first Sunday after the first ecclesiastical full moon on or after March 21. The “ecclesiastical” full moon comes from church tables rather than from astronomy, which is why Easter can fall on any Sunday from March 22 to April 25. This page uses the Gregorian (Western) calculation; Eastern Orthodox churches use a different calendar, so their Easter is often on another date.
