A day has 24 hours, so days = hours ÷ 24. For example, 1,000 hours ÷ 24 = 41.67 days, which is 41 days and 16 hours. A week has 168 hours, and a 365-day year has 8,760 hours; leap years have 8,784.
Worked example: 1,000 hours
- Divide by 24: 1,000 ÷ 24 = 41.67 days.
- Take the whole days: 41 days.
- Find the leftover hours: 41 × 24 = 984, and 1,000 − 984 = 16 hours.
- Result: 1,000 hours = 41 days and 16 hours, which is 5 weeks, 6 days and 16 hours.
