How the countdown is calculated
Everything is calculated in your browser from your device’s clock and time zone, so the countdown reaches zero at the chosen time where you are. If a date is already in the past, the page counts the time since then instead.
For a single day of the week, a clock time today or the end of the year, these tools are quicker:

How do I make a birthday countdown?
Enter the birthday date, optionally a party time and a name such as “Sam’s birthday”, then press Start countdown. The link under the countdown keeps your date, so you can bookmark it or send it to someone.
What happens if the date is in the past?
The page switches to counting the time since that date, so you can also see how long ago something happened.
Which time zone does the countdown use?
Your device’s time zone. A countdown to midnight reaches zero at midnight where you are.
