An on-screen timer that fills the screen

This full screen timer shows the remaining time in very large digits, so it can be read from across a room. Set the time with the fields or quick buttons, press Start timer and then press Full screen. The same on-screen timer works on a laptop, a tablet, a classroom board or a projector.

How to make the timer full screen

On a phone, many browsers do not allow full screen from a web page; the large in-page view still hides the rest of the page.

  • Choose a length with the quick buttons or the hours, minutes and seconds fields.
  • Press Start timer when you are ready.
  • Press Full screen (or the F key). The page asks the browser for real full screen and falls back to a large in-page view if the browser says no.
  • Leave full screen with Esc, or with the close button in the corner.

When a full screen countdown helps

Classroom activities and transitions, meetings and workshops with a visible agenda, workouts and rest breaks, presentations, and cooking in a busy kitchen all benefit from a timer that everyone can see. For lessons see the classroom timer, and for slides the presentation timer.

Keyboard shortcuts

Frequently asked questions

Still have a question? Get in touch

How do I make a timer full screen?

Press the Full screen button below the timer, or press F. Use Esc to leave. If your browser does not allow native full screen, the page shows a large in-page view instead.

Can I show the timer on a projector or second screen?

Yes. Open this page in the browser window that is shown on the projector, start the timer and press Full screen. In a video call you can share that window.

Will the screen stay on during the countdown?

Not automatically on this page. If your device dims or locks the screen during a long countdown, change its display or sleep settings, or touch the screen now and then. Keep this tab open so the alarm can play.

Will the alarm work if I leave this tab?

Keep the tab open. Switching to another tab is usually fine, but browsers can slow down pages in the background and may block sound that was never enabled. For the best chance of hearing the alarm, keep this page open and visible and press Test sound first. Closing the tab stops the alarm.

Reset this timer?

The countdown will stop.
